Tara Tucci is a dancer, choreographer, and educator based in New Jersey. She began her training at Adam’s Dance Academy and South Jersey Dance Center, where she studied ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, contemporary, and tap. Tara recently earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance at Rowan University, where she has expanded her training in modern, postmodern, improvisation, and dance composition. Under the mentorship of faculty member and tap artist Corinne Karon, she was able to continue to refine her tap technique and deepen her understanding of its cultural and historical roots. In 2022, Tara joined The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble as an Apprentice Dancer, became an Associate Dancer in 2024, and was promoted to First Company Dancer for the 2025-2026 season. Here she performs in main stage concerts and outreach events throughout Philadelphia. Tara is passionate about preserving the legacy of tap dance, particularly its origins as an African American art form, and is committed to passing that knowledge on through both performance and education.
What is your favorite dance movie?
It would have to be the Gregory Hines Tap movie, but I’m a huge Stomp the Yard fan!
What is your favorite style of dance?
Tap is my favorite style to do, but modern is also one of my favorites… specifically Horton!
What is your best dance memory?
My best dance memory would be my senior capstone project at Rowan University, We Sustain. A friend and I produced a full length dance production expressing concerns for the environment and we collected hundreds of dollars worth of donations for nearby organizations!
What are you most looking forward to at ZZ DANCE?
I am most looking forward to meeting all of the wonderful staff and students!
