Lily Mello is an artist working and living in Philadelphia. They received a BFA in dance from The University of the Arts, under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield in 2020. Lily has performed in the works of Zoe Scofield, Mark Haim, Sidra Bell, Andrea Miller and many others. Over the last few years, Lily’s interest and practice in Drag performance has catapulted her urge to create work. Lily co-created the theatrical performance group, Sheer Spectacle, with Kali Petrizzo in early 2022.

What is your favorite dance moment?
In May, my partner and I produced, directed, choreographed and danced in our first show Ripped Tights, Stoned Heart. Over the course of three sold out shows, we were able to bring in 175+ audience members to view the production. This has been a dream of mine for so long and I am very proud of the work my partner and I, (along with our 7 other dancers) created. Our company, Sheer Spectacle is working on a new upcoming project and excited to continue with this journey.

Why do you love to teach?
I find immense joy helping students access their creativity and artistry through movement. There is no greater feeling than sharing your passion with people who want to learn.
