Canyon Carroll is a Philadelphia based artist and teacher. Born in Roanoke Virginia, Canyon began his dance training at age 10. Canyon graduated in the spring of 2022 from The University of The Arts with their BFA in performance, under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. During his studies at University of The Arts, he has had the opportunity to perform in works by Andrea Miller, Doug Varone, Sidra Bell, Annie Rigney, Robert Battle and other resident artists and faculty. Canyon has trained in Berlin and Paris with renowned artists from all over the world including Olivia Ancona, Scott Jennings, Guy Nader, Volmir Cordeiro, and Lizbeth Gruwez.

What inspires you to create new choreography?
I try not to wait for inspiration. Just make. Some things that inform my work are my gender identity and queerness, my friends and my family, and past experiences.
